HARI MANOVIKASA KENDRAM
SPECIAL SCHOOL FOR INTELLECTUAL DISABLED CHILDREN (MENTALLY CHALLENGED)
Hari Manovikasa Kendram is a non-profit, non-commercial voluntary organization dedicated to the welfare of intellectually challenged individuals. Based in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District, Amalapuram, it was established in 1996 and is managed by a team of committed professionals.
The institute operates a day-care and residential center for boys and girls with intellectual disabilities. It provides tailor-made educational programs to help students develop basic life skills and fundamental concepts, enabling them to function as independently as possible in daily life.
Starting with just two students in 1996, the institute now serves 80 intellectually challenged individuals. Boys and girls are accommodated in separate buildings with a shared dining facility.
Students learn essential skills such as time management, color recognition, dressing, personal hygiene, and eating habits. The institute also offers yoga, speech therapy, and physiotherapy as needed. Older children who can manage are given vocational training. Excursions and picnics help students develop social skills and interact with the outside world.
